Together, we will explore your birth preferences and create a vision for your labour and birth experience. We’ll also develop a "Plan B" to ensure you feel prepared for any scenario. This process allows us to identify areas where further research or preparation may be helpful—because when it comes to birth, knowledge is power.
These appointments offer a great opportunity to introduce me to your birth team and ensure I stay informed. Having an extra pair of ears can be helpful for recalling important details later. Plus, if you ever leave an appointment wishing you had asked something, I’ll be there to gently remind you of your questions.
Before we focus on birth preferences, it can be valuable to reflect on past pregnancies and births. These experiences, both positive and challenging, naturally shape our current journey. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, fears, and emotions, helping you gain clarity for the upcoming birth.
Planning for a Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC) often involves additional discussions and considerations. We will work together to navigate these topics and create a plan that feels right for you.
While birth preparation is essential, planning for the postpartum period is just as important. Together, we’ll explore breastfeeding techniques, expressing milk in the final weeks of pregnancy, and new-born settling methods. Preparing for the fourth trimester in advance can give you a boost in confidence as you transition into motherhood.
I have a small but growing collection of recommended books on birth preparation that are available for you to borrow.

We will work through any feeding or latching challenges together. If additional support is needed, I can refer you to a lactation consultant.

Whether you’re a first-time parent or have had previous babies with unsettled sleep, we’ll discuss what’s working and troubleshoot together to find settling techniques that feel right for you and your baby.

The fourth trimester is a time for rest and bonding, not housework. Before my visit, you can create a list of small tasks you’d like help with—such as laundry, vacuuming, taking out the garbage, or a light clean of the kitchen and bathroom. A tidy space can help ease feelings of overwhelm.

I can prepare nourishing meals for you and your family using ingredients from your pantry and fridge, ensuring you have one less thing to worry about.

Processing your birth experience is important. If you need a dedicated time to talk about your birth, I provide a safe and supportive space to share your thoughts and emotions. While I am not an accredited birth counsellor, I am here to listen, validate your feelings, and offer empathetic support.

While I don’t provide transportation or outings for siblings, I can engage them with activities at home—especially during feeding times—so you can focus on your newborn. Please note that this is not a nannying/baby sitting service.
